Thank you for choosing Kenn Nesbitt's ShareLock.
With ShareLock, you can turn any Windows program
into a trial version with as little as one line
of code.

Please read the following as it contains important
information about this release.

FORMAT
======
ShareLock 2.0 is a 32-bit Windows DLL with "wrapper"
controls in both ActiveX and Delphi VCL formats.
This means you can use ShareLock from Visual Basic,
Visual C++, Delphi, C++ Builder, PowerBuilder, and
any other language that supports ActiveX or VCL
controls.

In addition, you can call the ShareLock DLL API
directly from any language that supports DLLs and
Windows messaging.

NEW FEATURES
============
ShareLock 2.0 has a number of important new features,
including:

* Simplified interface
  - Eliminated "Key" properties
  - Integrated About box
* Improved security
  - Registry information is now encrypted
  - Registry information is stored in a binary data block
    instead of separate key locations
  - New PrivateKey property
* ActiveX control
  - In addition to the VCL components, ShareLock now
    includes an ActiveX component for use with Visual
    Basic, Visual C++, etc.
* DLL API
  - ShareLock can now be used from languages other than
    Delphi and C++ Builder
  - DLL API is documented in ShareDLL.hlp
* DLL-based key generator
  - Write your own unlock code generators, including
    CGI apps, email apps, etc.  Sample source code is
    included.
* Additional sample applications

32-BIT VERSION
==============
ShareLock 2.0 is currently available only in a 32-bit
version for Windows 95 and Windows NT. Do not try to
run it on Windows 3.1.  It will not run on Windows
3.1, even with Win32s installed.

INSTALLING SHARELOCK
====================
Before installing ShareLock 2.0, you should uninstall
any previous version of ShareLock.  If you are using
Delpi or C++ Builder, you should uninstall ShareLock
from your component library and remove ns*.pas from
your Delphi or CBuilder Lib directory to avoid any
file name conflicts.

If you are using Visual Basic, make sure you delete
any old version of ShareLock, including OCX and DLL
files from your system before installing this release.

Read the instructions in ShareLok.hlp for directions
on how to install ShareLock 2.0.

HOW TO START USING SHARELOCK
============================
For information on using ShareLock with Visual Basic,
Delphi or C++ Builder as a component see the ShareLock
help file.  For information on using ShareLock from
any language as a DLL see the ShareDLL help file.

For a jump start, take a look at the sample applications
in the Sample Apps directory. In particular see the 'barebones'
samples - these use ShareLock as it will probably be used in
the applications you write. The other examples show how to use
every feature of ShareLock.
